YEAR 5

Dear Parents and Students,

Wow! What a busy and crazy year 2020 has been for us! We were happy to return to normal learning in the classroom for Term 4. We all missed our friends, teachers, and the routine of the classroom. It has certainly been a busy term, but we have all got through it!!

The Year 5’s completed fantastic projects for Integrated Studies. They made 3D models of a plant or animal cell. I was impressed with the creativity, the effort put in and the quality of the presentations of the projects for their assessment. Well done to all who completed and presented their 3D model.

In English this term, the class have been learning about and writing different styles of poetry.

Students have also been working hard on their handwriting, practising joined writing and preparing for their pen licence test.

I would like to congratulate the Year 5 class on working so hard on their handwriting and receiving the prestigious Pen Licence!

In Maths, students have worked on symmetry, enlargements, reductions, money and mass.

This term, the year 5s were lucky to be part of the 3-6 Camp to Billabong Ranch. Many students went and had a great time.

Sadly, this year we are saying goodbye to our good friends Rana and Feyza. We wish them good luck in their new schools, and we will miss you both.

Finally, I would like to thank the Year 5 class of 2020 for all their efforts and hard work throughout this difficult year. It has certainly been a challenging year, which has taught us a great deal. We have mastered online learning, assessments, MYED and many other new and interesting things this year.

We have had a lot of laughs, fun, and difficult times, but we have got through it all as a strong, hard working class. I congratulate you on completing all your assessments, finishing your work, and showing great progress throughout the year. I hope you have a safe, and happy holidays with your family and I look forward to seeing your smiling faces around the school in 2021!

Regards,
Mrs Stacey Koktas
